Two Roads Diverged in a Yellow Wood

NaPoWriMo Day#1: Poem with the same first line as another

I had  decided to take part in the NaPoWriMo, and this was the poem I wrote on Day#1

So the first prompt is to write a poem with the same first line as another one. My inspiration is the beautiful, timeless The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. So here goes…

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood

We chose the second one today for a change.

All alone, we felt a strange thrill

As not even birds dared to break the music

Of the silent leaves rustling together.

We felt the soft ground beneath

The scratchy, dry, dying leaves;

And as we lay down and watched

The leaves falling slowly, slowly

We turned to gaze at each other

And saw, what our hearts had feared to say

On the other road, where we’d met every day.
