The Thorn and the Leaf

NaPoWriMo Day#16: Translate a poem from a language you don’t know by just guessing what the sounds mean

Okay, I’m not gonna do that. Here’s just a small poem:

My mother always told me,

“Whether the leaf falls on the thorn,

Or the thorn pricks the leaf,

the damage is always to the leaf”.

I always wondered why it implied

That the leaf fared worse, because

The leaf got hurt, and didn’t hurt.

I want to be the leaf,

Even if it hurts.
