Tears

She couldn’t sleep

The wetness of her cheeks

Kept her awake even as she watched

The comforting loneliness of the dark

Fade away to the cruel spotlight of the day

Her tears dripped from her chin

She sniffed silently, sobbed softly

She heard sounds of broken glass

Move inside her, up and down.

Piercing with every whimpering breath.

The tears would never stop

Nobody understood why she cried

When she was to blame for their hurt

And yet, the tears kept falling quietly,

Comforting her in her loneliness.
